KLIA etched its name in aviation history as the world’s first airport to feature a fully integrated air traffic control tower with an integrated taxiway center designed for efficient aircraft parking. This monumental achievement was commemorated on March 31, 1998, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony graced by Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.

The airport has earned international acclaim and recognition, clinching the title of the “World’s Best Airport” on five occasions.
